Introduction to the G20 meetings
The G20 group came into view in response to the financial crises of the late 1990s in Asia . It was created to unite finance ministers and centeral bankers from twenty world largest economies and also to prevent future financial crises and to promote economic growth. The group represents a diverse mix of countries, including advanced economies, emerging markets, and developing nations such as india , which make it a largest platform for global economies.

The G20 has evolved since its inception in 1999, expanding its functions and addressing a broader range of global challenges
Functions of the G20 group
1.Increase Economic Coordination and Cooperation among countries: The G20's primary function is to increase economic coordination and cooperation among its member countries. This includes discussions on sustainable development and monetary policies, exchange rates, trade, and investment.
2. Financial Regulation:The G20 plays a critical role in developing and implementing financial regulations. It established the Financial Stability Board (FSB) ( as india is also a active member of FSB) to solve all the issues related to financial stability and it also supervise international financial institutions. and there are also discussions related to global economy ,infrastructure, and on financial regulation.
3. Trade and Investment: Promoting open and fair trade is necessary function of the G20 countries . The group aims to reduce trade barriers, and help in negotiations in global trade as its members represent 85% of global GDP and 75% of international trade in world.
4. Climate Change and Sustainability: In recent years, the G20 has increasingly focused on environmental issues, including climate change , global warming and sustainable development. as G-20 leaders aimed to increase low carbon development strategies to promote green and healthy growth in world.
5. Global Health: The G20 has played a role in addressing global health crises, such as the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Member states have discussed strategies for vaccine distribution, and strengthening healthcare systems of countries in world .
In recent years, the G20 has increase its focus on environmental and sustainability issues into its international agenda. Climate change, in particular, has become a prominent topic of discussion, leading to agreements such as the Paris Agreement. and now india is hosting the environmental and sustainability meeting at chennai and other held in bengaluru , gandhinagar , and mumbai .
